If you ask some of your friends or colleagues they may conclude that they prefer shopping on the high street over any other method because they can try the item on or visually appreciate the product more. However, reports indicate that ecommerce has a significant grasp on consumers and it is the first place they go to browse or research a product before finally making the purchase online.
A recent survey for UK consumers showed that about 80% highlighted ‘free delivery’ was a good reason to shop with any online retailer. Free delivery is already used by some of the UK’s largest ecommerce sites, including Amazon, ASOS and Play.com.
A second reason for attracting custom online was a ‘price guarantee’ from online retailers, with 72% wooed by this online offer. Being able to match or better the prices on a rival site is clearly a good way for sites to win business.
Tingleweb also acknowledge that trust in payment options is a guarantee to winning business for ecommerce retailers. The use of alternative payment methods, such as PayPal, to ensure safe shopping online that does not rely on payment card transactions. Tingleweb are also Sage Pay partners and can offer extra features such as fraud scoring and detailed customer information. Customers will also have the option to buy without registering. Tingleweb have spent years perfecting the simplest and most effective checkout and payment processes.
Interestingly, the survey also showed that consumers concerns surrounding online retailers were poor search tools, sluggish page load speeds, and a small amount querying the safety of shopping online with some retailers.
The pressure of a good online presence brings security threats which is why Tingleweb offer site security & accessibility solutions that completely protect your website and company information. We display trusted authentification symbols on your website which gives your visitors the peace of mind required to use card details online.

The UK has shown a keen eye to spend despite the challenging economic conditions and a slight decline in sales reported for 2009. Even so, a staggering £250 billion has been spent by consumers hitting the ‘checkout’ button in the last 10 years.
The love affair of spending online shows no sign of fading as sales have exploded year on year. Little wonder as new media evolves and has allowed Tingleweb to integrate product browsing facilities such as ‘Product Zoom’, ‘Send to a friend’, ‘Wishlist’, ‘Giftwrap’ and ‘Live Stock’ availability within their ecommerce platform.
Tingleweb realise that as businesses continue to advance, so do the marketing and sales trends. We recommend having solutions in place which are easily adaptable and can support change when it happens. Our multi-channel support is growing with the ability to integrate ecommerce with online stores such as eBay and Amazon.
Tingleweb predict ecommerce companies having a greater need for cross-border trading as the UK market continues to spend. Having a website with international support including shipping rates, multi-currency and multi-language options increases your audience but can also encourage trust for the consumer.
Mobile commerce has also started to become a major technological advancement of the next decade. Improvements in handset technology, browser compatibility and value data packages mean that ecommerce companies should now be budgeting for their mobile store or app.
To date, in 2010 the UK has spent a healthy £26.2 billion online, with June accounting for 20% of that amount. With sales figures like these, shopping online is fast becoming simple, cheap and an easy way to shop, just like every online retailer hoped it would. Why not benefit from the UK’s consumer spending ? If you want an ecommerce store for your business or want to discuss how your online store could be improved, contact Head of Business Development, Lauren Tingle.

Email Marketing is quick, responsive and measurable. Not only that but it allows companies likeyourselves to target your market at a significantly lower cost than using traditional mail. Without a doubt, email encourages quick response, and helps build loyalty and trust in a brand. Buyers also appreciate how it allows them some control over the frequency and content.
Read about how you can increase your brand awareness in the Tingleweb blog article – “Build your brand by Email Marketing”
As with any kind of marketing Tingleweb understand that targeting the right people at the right time is essential, and email makes it easier to customise. With the amount of time people often spend at their computers, it makes sense to use email as a key element in maintaining brand awareness, as well. Email can also be used as a way of reinforcing a direct mail promotion.
One of the downsides of email marketing is that the cost of the average email list is often much higher than that of a postal list. Nevertheless, the cost of paper and postage can sometimes cancel that out, and some savvy list owners will drastically lower their prices in order to encourage hesitant marketers. In addition, the type of offer, time of year, and nature of the list can all be contributing factors.
For traditional direct marketers testing the waters, it’s important to set realistic expectations. Response numbers may be less than impressive at first, but can grow dramatically as email becomes a larger component of marketing initiatives. With the continued adoption of green practices, the paper-saving approach of email marketing will also become more and more appealing.

Online business owners can prepare for the holiday season and reach both current and potential customers by using effective website marketing tips. One often overlooked web marketing avenue is email marketing which creates a sense of trust and honesty.
A holiday season email message can provide a quick and easy method for promoting a product or service. An ecommerce business can proactively create a positive outcome to an email marketing campaign. And, add to total revenue without spending a fortune.
Enhance the Subject Line in Business Emails
Online business owners should be aware that customers recieve additional emails during the holiday season. An online owner needs to stand apart from competing businesses and avoid using a general subject line such as “Hi” or “Just checking on you”.
Give customers a reason for opening business emails. One way is to highlight the email subject lines by using the business name. Clients are more likely to respond to a business-related emails from well-known sources than non-business emails.
Keep Email Marketing Simple
An owner should maintain a professional image with all emails. Avoid sending long emails during the holiday season ,since email readers want quick and simple information. The email marketing message should be kept at one page.
Write holiday emails in short paragraphs to draw attention to the marketing message. An email reader should be able to understand your holiday offer and feel the desire to make an online purchase.
Proofread Business Emails for Better Holiday Sales
It is critical to carefully review business emails before sending them to online customers. One tip is to wait before sending ,so the business owner can check the emails for correct spelling and proper tone. Otherwise, a customer may feel like the business is unprofessional and choose another online store.
Another business holiday sales tip is to allow another person to review the emails such as a business partner or an employee. A good first impression is vital for gaining the trust and respect of online customers who have multiple web store options.

Research published by Experian shows that email marketing messages shared through social networking links deliver, on average, 5 times more forwards than an email with just a single ‘forward to a friend’ link. Integrating social media into email campaigns is something we should all be doing.
Retailers who are using key social media networks including blogging sites, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn have the opportunity to engage with their audience, build their brand and drive web traffic.
By integrating these social media channels with their email marketing, the potential becomes even greater. Email enables marketers to raise the visibility of their social media presence and content, drive traffic to their social media and blog pages, and encourage recipients to share marketing messages on their own social media sites.
Tips from Tingleweb: -
Bare in mind which social media site your target audience use.
Keep your messages simple. Remember, a complicated message will not shared! Keep the proposition in your email campaign a singleminded and understandable one
Address these motivators in your targeted email content, to create compelling and ‘group specific’ content that was just made for social media sharing.
Make it easy for recipients to post your email and for new readers to signup
Include prominent ‘social network sharing links’ and Blog link in your email template
Give your recipients a reason to share. Ask yourself, why would someone want to share your email? Does your message add value to the recipient and their friends or colleagues? Do you have a competition or promotion for people to enter?

A report has revealed that website traffic figures for UK websites dropped during the country’s World Cup fixtures. Obviously fans were abandoning the internet in favour of the TV!
According to the survey by Adtech, traffic dropped by 20% during England matches. The traffic drops were far less significant for other fixtures.
An hour before the two England games, visitor numbers to UK websites dropped by 10%. Once the matches got underway, Adtech’s servers recorded just 80% of the usual ad impressions.
But the good news (if you can think of it as good news) is that as soon as the England matches were over, delivery performance for banner ads increased by up to 10% above normal traffic for the next hour and so did website traffic. The solution to drown England sorrows seemed to be the ‘internet’.
Here are few more World Cup on-line stats:
- During the week ending June 19 there were five times as many searches for “vuvuzela” than for “wayne rooney”, the England team’s most searched for player.
- In one week during the world cup, 1 in every 88 internet search in the UK was World cup related last week.
- Many ecommerce companies will be keen to get back to business as usual after the World Cup!
